1st day.. screwed day OMG FIRST DAY OF WORK AT RITZ CARLTON... what should I say.. tiring and easily one of the worst first days to begin work as well.. started off.. me and ruhui were late.. cause we decide to hang around the TJ open house and yes we hang around for a pretty long time so we were all late.. so we rush to bedok interchange grab our hair accesories and cab down to ritz carlton.. and when we were there.. rush to get change and OMG I got the wrong size for uniform so quickly went to change.. and my hair was not spray black and makeup was not put.. so it was pretty screwed.. either case when everything was done.. went down for briefing and we kinda miss like half of the briefing.. so it was shiat.. and the manager have to come up and tell me say my hair is too kua zhang.. too BLACK.. grrr.. so I hv to go wash it off some of the black.. then go back.. and guess what everybody was dispersed already.. ran around got my badge that cost me 6 dollars.. and then after was briefed by shiak about what to do.. after that went to do cocktail reception.. clear glasses.. and serve them as well.. oh and ritz carlton.. if a guest ask where the restroom is.. we cant give directions.. we must escort them.. so yes escort a lady to the washroom.. and continue to serve and clear glasses of soft drinks and wine.. all the barang.. DINNER starts.. and initially I was like a lost soul not knowing what to do.. must really thank the people in my group for telling me what to do.. and gradually manage to pick up certain stuff... continue to serve food clear dishes and guess what I was feeling SUPER hungry for a moment especially the part when they serve the shark fin.. and when I clear those bowls of shark fins that were not finished.. it was totally demoralising and devastating.. esp in the kitchen.. they just throw them into the sinks.. OUCH mann!! either case I dun really like to serve drinks esp chinese teacause if the pots was too heavy.. I am afriad that I will spill and yes FIRST TIME... FIRST DAY OF JOB.. I spill it on a guest and bloody hell it was not really my fault.. I was serving this guest on my right and this guest on my left have to come barging onto me.. in fact he went barging into the tray of soft drinks I was holding on my left so I guess u can picture the scenario.. the drinks went flying onto the guest on my right.. but it must be my lucky day somehow cause my manager did not scold me.. and partially the guest was nice enough to tell me it was not my fault and this is what my manager told me.. I know such circumstances are unforseen but try to be more alert and careful next time.. I dun wish to report you to the higher superior and the guest also say it was not ya fault... SO THANK YOU to the guest who I spilled on and thank you to the manager for not reporting me as well.. either case.. work ended.. and now my arms are aching so is my feet.. try standing in court shoes for 6.5 hours.. at least during formal presentation.. we get to sit down.. so yep it is 6.5 hours straight without sitting down plus 12 hours without food which means i ate a meal in a day.. yeah LOSE WEIGHT haha!! anyway after work.. took a van sponser by ritz back home..either case the $39 bucks I earn yesterday is officially vanished as well.. lets see my spendings: i spend about 8 on hair accesories, 5 for the cabfare, and hv to pay 24 first for the flint chalet at the end of the yr and 10 bucks for the top I bot online and 6 for my ritz carlton badge.. so in total I earn negative 14 bucks.. oh and shunzo uno concert 10 bucks so making it negative 24.. haha.. need to work more to earn it back.. even though I still hv pocket money to back me up but still.. i needa SAVE.. cause I next sem I might wanna take jap lessons or even go back to my drums and I just realise after SD concert.. I lost one of my drumsticks.. OH GREAT.. either case working at ritz really gv me a whole new exp about hotel life.. imagine in the menu yesterday.. me and ruhui saw like what.. beverages.. of all those vodka gin cognac.. and all those scotch whiskey even terms like neat meaning no ice and on the rocks meaning ice cubes.. isn't that like F&B applying what we learn into what we serve!! even though it was tough yesterday, it was pretty challenging so yep.. I m prepared to work again. haha.. for that MOOLA lol!! nationwide SD mtg later... meanwhile I m off to watch my dramas.. after touching on korean jap taiwanese and evn local.. I decide to go america.. GHOST WHISPERER.. yes yes lol!! |
